Know before you drive

Inspections that catch
problems early

The best repair is the one you never need. A thorough inspection finds small problems while they're still small, before they strand you on the Henday in January.

Every inspection at GB Auto is a genuine multi-point examination. We go through the engine, transmission, brakes, steering, suspension, tires, fluids, electrical system and body, not a quick walk-around with a flashlight. When we're done, we walk you through what we found in plain language, so you know exactly where your vehicle stands.

Buying a used car? A pre-purchase inspection tells you what the vehicle is actually worth and whether it's hiding anything. It's the cheapest insurance you'll ever buy on a used vehicle.

  • AMVIC registered: inspections that hold up.
  • Repairs on-site: if something fails, we can quote and fix it here.

Vehicle raised on a hoist during a multi-point inspection at GB Auto
What to expect

What does an
inspection involve?

We put your vehicle on the hoist and work through a full checklist: engine and drivetrain, transmission, brakes, steering and suspension, tires and wheels, lights, glass, fluids and the body itself. Most inspections take one to two hours.

If something doesn't pass, you get an itemized list and an honest quote. No pressure, no scare tactics, and because we're a full repair shop, the fix and the re-check happen under the same roof.

Good to know

Inspection questions,
answered

How long does a vehicle inspection take?

Most inspections take one to two hours depending on the type. Book ahead and we'll have a bay ready for you.

What does a pre-purchase inspection cover?

Engine, transmission, brakes, steering, suspension, tires, fluids, electrical and body, then we walk you through what we found. For $110 you'll know exactly what you're getting, and what it's really worth, before you pay.

Do you do Uber and rideshare inspections?

Yes. Our $80 rideshare inspection covers the checklist ride-hailing platforms require, so you can get approved to drive without the back-and-forth.

What happens if my vehicle doesn't pass?

You get a clear, itemized list of what needs attention. We can quote the work, fix it on-site, and complete the inspection, all in one place.

What is a Mechanical Fitness Assessment (MFA)?

In Alberta, a licensed dealer must have a Mechanical Fitness Assessment completed before selling a used vehicle. As an AMVIC-registered shop, we perform the assessment and provide the signed documentation you need to complete the sale.
