More than an oil change

A routine job,
done thoroughly

An oil change is a routine job, but it's also our chance to get under your hood and make sure everything is running the way it should.

Every oil change at GB Auto uses full synthetic oil and a new filter, and while we're in there we look at the things that quietly cause breakdowns: fluid levels, belts, hoses and filters. If something's starting to wear, you hear about it early, when it's a cheap fix instead of a tow truck.

Skipping oil changes is the most expensive money you'll ever save. Old oil breaks down, sludges up, and grinds away at the engine you're trying to protect. Keeping to the schedule protects performance, fuel economy and your warranty.

  • From $90: full synthetic oil & filter, upfront pricing.
  • Under-hood check included: fluids, belts and hoses.
  • In and out fast: most oil changes take 30–45 minutes.

Clean, well-maintained engine bay
Edmonton driving is hard on oil

Why the schedule
matters here

Cold starts at -30, short trips that never let the engine fully warm up, dusty summer highways: Edmonton driving is what manufacturers call "severe service." It breaks oil down faster than the brochure numbers assume.

That's why we set your interval to how you actually drive, not just the sticker on the windshield. Most vehicles on full synthetic are due every 8,000–12,000 km or six months, but a downtown commuter and a highway driver aren't the same vehicle on paper.

Following the maintenance schedule at an independent shop keeps your manufacturer warranty valid: we use fluids and parts that meet spec and document every service, so your records hold up.

Good to know

Oil & maintenance questions,
answered

How often should I change my oil?

With full synthetic, most vehicles are due every 8,000–12,000 km or every six months, whichever comes first. Edmonton winters, short trips and stop-and-go driving count as severe conditions, which means changing it more often. When in doubt, follow your manufacturer's schedule.

What does the $90 oil change include?

Full synthetic oil, a new filter, and a look under the hood while we're in there: fluids, belts and hoses get checked so small problems are caught early. The final price depends on your vehicle's oil capacity and specification.

How long does an oil change take?

Usually 30 to 45 minutes. Book ahead and we'll have a bay ready when you arrive.

Does servicing here keep my warranty valid?

Yes. In Canada you can maintain your vehicle at any qualified shop without voiding the manufacturer's warranty, as long as scheduled maintenance is done on time with parts and fluids that meet spec. We document every service so your records hold up.

What's included in scheduled maintenance?

Mileage-based service from your manufacturer's schedule: oil and fluids, filters, belts and hoses, tune-ups, plus a check of wear items like brakes and tires. It's the cheapest way to prevent breakdowns.
